Various scenes from a camping trip along California’s Central Coast.

Winter is mating season for the Northern Elephant Seal along California’s central coast. In February, when these clips were taken, the mothers are still weaning the pups and birthing continues, but at a slower pace than in January. By the end of the month, the seals begin to leave the beach behind. It is always entertaining to observe the behavior of these large and unusual creatures.
