Rapid Growth and Extreme Fire Behavior on the Caldor Fire — Timelapse and Stills (Sony A7 RIV)

With strong SW winds and extremely dry fuels in its path the Caldor Fire exploded on 8.17.21, exhibiting extreme fire behavior throughout the day. As of this post on 8.20.21 the fire is close to 70,000 acres with zero percent containment and more than 100 structures lost. These images and this very short timelapse were all taken on 8.17.21 in the afternoon/evening, south and east of the fire in the El Dorado National Forest, not far from highway 88.
