Wallowa and Grande Ronde River — Minam, OR to Boggan’s Oasis, WA

Another wild and scenic Oregon river in the books. 68 miles on the Wallowa and Grande Ronde. We couldn’t get the band back together from last year and I’ll miss the August trip they have planned, but you’ve gotta go when you have a chance and when the flows are good.

The first image is where the journey began on the Wallowa, the last image is from the Grande Ronde just before crossing the Washington border, with a few camping images in between. Heavy rain and cold temps to start, clear skies and hot weather on the final day.

More photos coming soon … In the mean time, here is a glimpse at previous Oregon river trips: https://www.davidnbraun.com/index/G00002OPyNceM8GA/thumbs

For some reason, almost all of our Oregon river trips start like this, with relatively dry conditions while setting up the boat followed by cold temps and heavy rain once on the water. In this case, we were hovering just above snow levels and even noticed a dusting of new snow at the top of the canyon the next day. We knew the first few days on the water would be a bit rough in this weather, but it only made us appreciate the sun and warm weather that was expected later in the week.
